Olympic champion Adam Peaty of Great Britain has revealed he will be joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing, the television dance contest show which partners professional dancers with celebrities.
“Well I’ve been waiting a long time to say this but I’m going on @bbcstrictly 😅😅😅 I actually can’t believe I’m taking these legs out of the pool and onto the dance floor! Who’s excited?!”
26-year-old Peaty will be joining the likes of actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, entrepreneur Sara Davies and 12 other personalities on the dancefloor for the 19th edition of the show. The series is due to begin next month on British television.
Says new dad Peaty of his dancing endeavor, “I’m not the most fluid on land. But, saying that, I am an athlete. I am used to working hard. Hard work is in my blood.” (BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat)
“It’s going to give me a new lease – just the way I look at swimming and look at training.
“If I take too much time out of physical training, I get fat, I get big, I put too much muscle on. Whereas Strictly is going to keep me fit, it’s going to be a change of stimulus, I’m going to do stuff I’ve never done before and hopefully have a lot of fun.”
It was just days ago we reported how Peaty revealed he would be taking a break from swimming and opting out of ISL season 3. He said in his announcement, “Mental health matters and it is about getting the balance right at that elite level.”
