COLUMBUS, Ohio – The next season of Ohio State men’s and women’s swimming and diving is set in the books as director of swimming and diving Bill Dorenkott announced the program’s 2021-22 schedule on Wednesday. The Buckeyes, who finished the 2021 season seventh at both the Men’s and Women’s NCAA Championships, will host eight meets over the course of the year and face multiple top-10 2021 NCAA finishers.
Ohio State begins the season with the return of its annual Alumni Weekend. The weekend includes the Scarlet and Gray Intrasquad meet on Friday, Oct. 8 and the Alumni Meet on Saturday, Oct. 9.
Kicking off the home meet schedule is a two-day double dual with Indiana, Penn State and Virginia Tech on Oct. 29 and 30. The Buckeye men will compete against all three opponents while the women will swim against the Hoosiers and Hokies.
For the first road meet of the season, the reigning Big Ten Champion women’s team heads north on Nov. 11 to face Akron. The men’s and women’s programs reunite the next day to play host to Denison on Nov. 12.
The Buckeyes continue the first half of the season in Columbus with the Ohio State Fall Invitational set for November 18-20 at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Teams joining the field of competition include Kentucky, Pitt, Indiana, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and UCLA.
Ohio State rings in the new year with three meets in January. The Buckeyes host a two-day double dual against Texas and Kentucky on Jan. 14-15 before taking their first full team road trip of the season to South Bend, Ind. for the Shamrock Invitational on Jan. 21-22. The following weekend, the men take on Cleveland State on Jan. 29 at McCorkle.
The Buckeyes host their final regular season meet Feb. 11-13 with the Ohio State Winter Invitational. Johns Hopkins and Ohio are set to make the trip to Columbus for the meet.
Postseason competition begins Feb. 16-19 with the Women’s Big Ten Championships in Madison, Wisc. The men’s conference championship meet is set for Feb. 23-26 in West Lafayette, Ind. The Men’s and Women’s Last Chance Meets follows conference championship competition on March 6 and Feb. 27, respectively.
Ohio State swimming and diving closes the 2021-22 season at the NCAA Championships starting March 16 in Atlanta, Ga. The women’s team competes March 16-19 and the men’s squad takes the pool the following week from March 23-26.
The Buckeyes return to action after a successful 2021 campaign during which the program finished the regular season a combined 5-2. The women’s team won its second consecutive Big Ten title while the men took home third at the Big Ten Championships. The program made history with seventh-place NCAA Championship finishes on both the men’s and women’s side as the women earned their best result at the meet in program history and the men earned their best finish since 1965.

Would love to find schedule for the meet, and spectator information! It’s less than three days, and nothing seems to be posted anyplace…
Will the OSU Invitational Meet on November 18-20 be broadcast? Where/when?
We’ll have more info next week.
Circling the October 9th alumni meet.
Going to need splits on Mike Hulme’s 100 IM
Akron, Dennison, Cleveland State?? Why do they have such a weak schedule?? Only strong team they race is Texas. Do they do this just so they have a winning record?? Really doesn’t help good swimmers to have no competition. Seems OSU has a swim schedule like this every year.
Agree, but maybe regional travel component with COVID changes happened long regularly… trying to keep it mostly in state perhaps?
Now that you mention that, it looks to be that way. Only meets out of Ohio are the ones they don’t really have an alternative for (except Shamrock Invite)
I wouldn’t say Texas is the only strong team. Penn State has some good guys and Virginia Tech definitely isn’t a bad team
Only 1 tri/dual meet with B1G Ten teams?
The US open will be a great meet to see how the two distance guys Charlie and Jonathon do,
lol they don’t even want to swim Michigan. So much for all that talk about winning Big Ten’s last year. Says something about a program, when you don’t appreciate the historical presence of a great rivalry.
Weird that they are not swimming Michigan.. one of the great Big 10 rivalries
Just a thought.
If you think about it. The meets that they have almost line up with the type of fatigue and mindset they are going to have throughout the year. What happens if they lose to Michigan mid season? They potentially risk having that in the back of their mind going into Big 10. I think this is a good line up that get them the races they need at the time they need it.
Texas men go 6-5 most years and win the title… your point is irrelevant. Coach to overcome adversity and challenges
How are you so sure it’s a decision OSU made? Have you asked Michigan if it was their decision? Why would they not want to swim them??
Y’all were all talking in the comments section. It was snarly. Any time there was a Michigan article, Ohio State was whining. Any time there was an Indiana article, Ohio State was whining. Basically any time there was an article about a team not named “Ohio State,” Ohio State was whining.
It was not a good look. I’m not saying Michigan or Indiana swimmers/alumni/parents would’ve been any better…but Ohio State won, so they were in the position to win with grace, and they didn’t.
Shrug. Sports. The world spins on.
Lmao ok buddy
Michigan and IU got slapped
Not quite sure if it’s all talk either. They did win big tens by a significant margin. Who is talking and where? Second year in a row right? That seems to do the talking itself but maybe it’s just me
they’ll get to race M at B10. don’t need to go crazy during the season and also perhaps M declined to race them
