Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Olena Sadovska of Broadview Heights, Ohio has announced her verbal commitment to swim at Ohio State as a member of their class of 2022.
Sadovska posted the commitment to her Instagram page, writing, “I am so proud and BEYOND excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and swimming career at THE Ohio State University!! I am so thankful for my family, coaches, and friends that have been a part of this crazy journey! Go Bucks! #Buckeye 🌰❤”
Sadovska is a breaststroke specialist who swims for the Cleveland Swim Institute, which is only 2 hours away from Ohio State. She currently holds multiple USA Swimming Futures Championships cuts, in addition to a US Open Championships cut in the 100 breaststroke.
Most recently, Sadovska competed at the Sectionals meet in Geneva, Ohio in mid-July, where she placed 6th overall in the 50 meter breaststroke (34.27), 25th in the 100m breaststroke (1:17.00), and 15th overall in the 200m breaststroke (2:43.67). During the short course season, Sadovska was the runner-up at the Division I (large school) OHSAA State Championships in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.14).
Best Times SCY
- 100 breaststroke – 1:02.14
- 200 breaststroke – 2:16.37
With her best time in the 100 breaststroke, Sadovska would have ranked 6th on Ohio State’s roster last season, while her best time in the 200 breast would have ranked 5th.
Sadovska will be joining Ohio State at an ideal time, as Big Ten 100 breaststroke champion Hannah Bach will be in her final year with the program (barring the taking of a 5th year). Bach led the team last year with her time of 57.54, which earned her 5th place finish at the 2021 NCAA Championships. Bach also placed 6th at Big 10s in the 200 breaststroke with her time of 2:10.98.
The Ohio State women won the 2021 Big Ten Championships with a total of 1584 points. They then followed that up with a 7th place finish at the 2021 NCAA Championships, scoring 216 points.
With her commitment, Sadovska will join Lucy Malys, Jessica Eden, Sydney Davids and Sanna Peterson in OSU’s class of 2026 on the women’s side.
