Nyls Korstanje Hits Dutch 100 Fly Record En Route To Capturing Fourth Seed

2024 PARIS SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES

Tonight we saw the men’s 100m butterfly semi-finals rip through the water, with Hungarian silver medalist in the 200m fly, Kristof Milak, taking the top seed in a mark of 50.38.

Further down the line in 4th place was Dutch speedster Nyls Korstanje of the Netherlands, who made the most of the opportunity with a new national record of 50.59.

Entering this competition, Korstanje previously held the Dutch standard with the 50.78 he produced in the heats at the 2023 World Championships. There in Fukuoka, the former NC State standout ultimately finished in 5th in 51.05.

Korstanje’s New Dutch Record – 50.59 Korstanje’s Old Dutch Record – 50.78
23.10 23.31
27.49 27.47

Comparing the two performances, Korstanje attacked tonight’s outing with a .21 quicker result on the front half.

He’s right in the medal mix for tomorrow night’s main event, riding the momentum of teammates Caspar Corbeau and Tes Schouten who each won bronze in the respective men’s and women’s 200m breaststroke.
