Kenisha Gupta, who lives in Mumbai, India, and trains at Otters Club under coaches Sandeep Sejwal and Vinod Nair, has announced her verbal commitment to the Northwestern University class of 2025.

Gupta is one of the top swimmers in India. She won the U17 50 free (27.29), 100 free (59.14), and 200 IM (2:25.80) and anchored the winning 400 free and 400 medley relays at the 2020 Khelo India Youth Games in January. She also picked up the silver medal in the 50 fly (28.96). A year ago, she broke a trio of meet records at the 34th Otters Open Swimming and Diving Championships in Bandra: 50 free (26.18), 100 free (56.89), and 200 IM (2:22.88).
Gupta represented India at the 7th FINA World Junior Championships in Budapest last summer. There, she finished 40th in prelims of the 50 free (27.12), 47th in prelims of the 100 free (58.14), and 52nd in prelims of the 50 fly (29.72).
Her top SCY times come from last December’s NCAP Invitational:
- 50 free – 23.84
- 100 free – 52.41
- 200 free – 1:55.38
- 100 breast – 1:08.79
- 200 IM – 2:10.17
Gupta will join fellow verbal commits Ashley Strouse and Emily Trieschmann in Evanston in the fall of 2021.
