David McLean of Reno, NV has announced his decision to swim for IUP beginning in the fall of 2020.
David McLean of Reno, NV has committed to swim at Indiana University of Pennsylvania beginning in the 2020-2021 season. McLean is a senior at Bishop Manogue High School. He swims year-round for Reno Aquatic Club.
Last May, McLean competed at the 2019 NIAA 3A & 4A State Championships. As a junior at Bishop Manogue, he earned 6th place in the 100 fly with a time of 53.66. He later swam the 100 back, this time earning 7th, with a time of 53.94.
In February, McLean qualified for the Speedo Sectionals meet in Carlsbad. He swam the 100 fly, 100 back, 200 IM, 200 fly, 200 back, and 3 relays. He dropped 4.11 seconds in the 200 fly, earning a new personal best time.

McLean will join the Indiana University of Pennsylvania men’s team beginning in the fall of 2020. He will the team’s third-fastest 100 backstroker behind rising-juniors Ryan Hartmann and Taylor Auger. He will also be their third-fastest in the 1650 free behind Jackson Woolard and Shane Scullard. He will have the team’s fastest 200 free time, giving him a good chance to earn. spot on the team’s 800 free relay. McLean will be joining the team as a member of the class of 2024.
