Currently a junior at Western Alamance High School in Elon, Henderson is the reigning North Carolina 3A state champion in the 50 free and the double-defending champion in the 100 fly. As a sophomore at the 2017 NCHSAA 3A Championships he successfully defended his 2016 title in the fly, winning by nearly 1.5 seconds with 48.96. He also avenged his 2016 second-place finish in the 50 free with a gold-medal performance of 20.76.

Henderson swims year-round with Star Aquatics in High Point, NC. He is coming off a successful Winter Juniors East that saw him improve his PBs in the 50 free, 50/100 back, and 100/200 fly. He was a B-finalist in the 200 fly and a C-finalist in the 50 free and 100 back. In LCM this summer he went lifetime-bests and placed 7th in the 100 fly and 11th in the 200 fly at Summer Juniors; he also earned PBs in the 100 free and 100 back.

Henderson has made big drops over the past two years. At Summer Juniors he took 9/10 off his 100m free time in 1 year and 2.4 seconds off over a 2-year time frame; in the 100m back it was 1.1 and 5.3 seconds, respectively; in the 100m fly he improved by 1.2 and 4 seconds vs 2016 and 2015, respectively. In SCY his improvement over the last two years has included -2.5 seconds in the 100 fly, -7.2 in the 200 fly, -2 in the 50 free, and -6 9 in the 100 back.

Top SCY times:

  • 50 free – 20.24
  • 100 free – 45.40
  • 50 back – 22.55
  • 100 back – 48.85
  • 100 fly – 48.12
  • 200 fly – 1:48.19
