Mudpuppies Swim Across America Event to Honor Dr. Brian Goldman

Dr. Brian Goldman was a life-long swimmer with a passion for the sport. He held records for years at North Hills Club, and went on to swim for Duke during his undergraduate years. Seven years ago, he combined that love of sport and love of coaching and started the Mudpuppies Swim Team at Meredith Townes Pool. Under his loving leadership, the team achieved unprecedented success, winning division championships in the last five years, with undefeated seasons for the last three. For him, more important than the wins were the life lessons he shared with his young swimmers.

The Mudpuppies are going to continue to fight to help find a cure for cancer. For the 3rd year in a row, we will have an Olympic Clinic for swimming and water polo. Also, new for this year, we will have a Brians Mile of Hope swim, which is an indoor open water 1 mile swim.

Brian’s Mile of Hope Format:

We will swim 1 mile as an indoor open water swim. All the lane lines will be pulled out of the 50m pool. There will be a bouy placed at each corner of the pool, for a total of 4 bouys. 1 lap will equal approximately 150m. We will swim 10 laps in a counterclockwise position. Relays will also be an option.

Olympic Clinic Format:

The swim clinic will include specialized technique training on all four strokes, starts & turns, race preparation, and fun relays. Swimmers will be placed in to groups according to age and ability. This clinic is appropriate for ages 6 to masters.

The water polo clinic includes drill training, game stragegy and scrimmaging. Players will be placed into groups according to age and ability. This clinic is approprate to ages 8 to masters. Note: this clinic will be in deep water.
