ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota State women’s swimming and diving team took first place in 10 of the 16 events in the triangular meet against Concordia-St. Paul and St. Thomas, hosted by the Tommies. The Mavericks were victorious in both matchups Saturday.
The team defeated St. Thomas by a score of 163-137. MSU also beat the Golden Bears 233-67.
“We were hoping to see our women step up this week and race hard at St. Thomas. We had great effort throughout the afternoon. I thought that our freshman had an outstanding meet and performed very well. There were several close races that we were able to edge out. Our divers had another solid day on the boards and scored valuable points. The last relay was probably the highlight of the meet. There was a palpable energy in the pool with all the teams in a tight race. We got beat on that one, but our women gave it a great effort. We had a lot of fun today”

Thoughts from head coach Matt Bos after Saturday’s competition::
“We had some great swims today, just lacking some energy overall. We have some people putting in some great training on a consistent basis and they are starting to see some great results. I am excited to get back at in next weekend with St. Cloud and then our invitational in a couple of weeks. I think we have some people really who are on the brink of some breakout swims.”
