Michigan’s Rainey Earns Big Ten Men’s Swimmer of the Week Honors

This past week in the Big Ten, the Michigan men swam to victory over Michigan State and Purdue in a long course tri-meet. Michigan sophomore Ian Rainey grabbed double wins, first in the 200 fly and then in the 400 free. That performance earned him Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honors.

The Big Ten Freshman of the Week was Penn State’s Rory Lewis. He helped Penn State to wins over Georgia Tech and Emory. He won the 200 fly individually against Emory, and was a part of the winning 400 free relay over Georgia Tech.

Minnesota traveled to Florida State, bringing home a victory against FSU as the programs met for their first ever dual meet against each other. Recognized in that win was Minnesota’s Matt Barnard, the Big Ten Diver of the Week. Barnard won the 3-meter event at the meet.
