Michael Phelps will join actor Bill Murray, musician Huey Lewis and more for the Ryder Cup’s celebrity golf match next week.
The event will take place at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota, which will also host the 41st Ryder Cup, a team golfing competition between the best golfers of the United States and Europe.
The celebrity event takes place on Tuesday, September 27, a few days before the headline event kicks off Thursday.
Phelps, the most-decorated Olympian of all-time, is one of the 8 American entrants, joining actor/comedian Bill Murray, musician Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis and The News, pro surfer Kelly Slater, retired Olympic and professional hockey player Jeremy Roenick, actor/comic Rob Riggle and celebrity chef Todd English.
Golf is hardly a new post-swimming endeavor for Phelps, who took up the sport at his retirement from swimming after the 2012 Olympics. Phelps, of course, would renege on that retirement only about two years later in pursuit of an Olympic berth in Rio – but this time around, he’s insisted his swimming retirement is permanent.
You can follow the celebrity golf match from 2:00 to 5:45 PM (Central Time) on Tuesday, September 27.
