Metroplex Aquatics’ Andrew Plese Commits to University of Maine

Andrew Plese of Richardson, Texas verbally committed to swim at the University of Maine earlier this year. Plese is a senior at Richardson High School and swims for Metroplex Aquatics. He also swims for the Richardson YMCA ‘Richardson Rapids’ Swim Team during the summer.

“I’m very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Maine! Go Black Bears!”

Plese had a particularly strong junior year, in which he logged a handful of best times across his top events, both in short course yards and long course meters.

His top times include:

  • 200 IM – 2:04.00
  • 400 IM – 4:25.41
  • 500 Free – 5:02.73
  • 100 Free – 52.76

The Black Bears had a successful campaign in the 2016-17 season. They won dual meets against Rhode Island, Keene State and Providence, and ended the year with an 11th-place finish at ECACs. A very young team, the Black Bears only graduated three seniors.
