Men’s 800 Free Relay Talks About “Swimming for the Team”

Natalie Schumann and Jessica Campbell are leading our coverage from this week’s Big Ten men’s championships. Both are journalism majors at Indiana.

Natalie and Jessica talk to the Michigan men’s 800 free relay that won the Big Ten title on Wednesday night. What’s really interesting is that they almost identically echoed the sentiments of their coach Mike Bottom in his interview: they talked about “swimming for the team.” When a coach can get every man to buy into something the way that Bottom has gotten the Wolverines to buy into a common message like this team has, your odds of success go up astronomically.

See Bottom’s interview here.
