University of Texas commit Mena Boardman took on a daunting schedule at the Oregon Swimming Senior Championships in Beaverton earlier this month and performed incredibly, headlined by her standout swim in the 100 butterfly.

The 16-year-old, who was competing unattached, set a best time of 51.11 in the prelims of the 100 fly before getting down to 50.93 in the final, moving her up to #4 all-time in the girls’ 15-16 age group.

Coming into the meet, Boardman held a lifetime best of 51.32, set at the Eastern Interscholastic Championships in February.

Relative to that swim last month, Boardman had much more front-end speed in the prelims, but in the final, it was her back half that made the difference.

She and Eva Okaro are great pick-ups for Texas in the sprint events, which is an area the team could use some help in

Guessing they’ll also have a similar event lineup of 50 free/100 free/100 fly
