Meet 2016 U.S. Olympian Elizabeth Beisel, who originally hails from Rhode Island. In the video below, she talks about how there is so much youth on the team and how at only 23-years old, she feels like she’s on the young side, but recognizes that this is her 3rd Olympic team, so she recognizes that it’s also important for her to provide leadership. Beisel is the defending Olympic silver medalist in the 400 IM, and lines up the field as “one of the most anticipated races of the Games for women” and that it’s “so stacked.”
Beisel was named a captain of Team USA this summer, one of 6 first-time captains on the team.
From Beisel’s SwimSwam Bio:

We will be cheering for you at the Willows!!!l
Good luck, Elizabeth. Come home SAFE……….and with a gold medal. 🙂
What a smile! What persistence! And what a class act: I still recall this bronze-winner shrieking, “I’m so proud of you!” to Missy Franklin when the latter broke the WR in the 200m back in London.
Beisel was silver medalist.
Not in 200 back.
Bronze.
She is a class act. We love you Elizabeth.
