LIZZY GIESE
Coon Rapids, Minn. (Coon Rapids)
Giese is a four-year letterwinner for Coach Doug Donaldson at Coon Rapids High School. A four-time all-conference and all-section honoree, she was a state qualifier in the 500 free and 200 IM and has served as team captain as a senior. Giese also competed for Coach Dave Bentz of Great Wolf Swim.
“Lizzy will bring some much needed distance support to our program,” Samland said. “She’s great with free and fly, but she showed huge drops in her IM this year at state. We expect her to make an immediate impact on our team.”
BELLA HAEGAR
Eden Prairie, Minn. (Eden Prairie)
Haegar is a four-year letterwinner for Coach Kelly Boston at Eden Prairie High School. She competes in club swimming for Coach Ann Urschel of Team Foxjet.
“Bella will add needed depth to our backstroke events,” Samland said. “We will work together to find out what her third event will be.”
BROOK LANDT
Castle Rock, Colo. (Valor Christian)
Landt is a four-year letterwinner for Coach Lori Stenstrom at Valor Christian High School. A three-time state qualifier, she swam on Valor’s 200 free relay state championship team and earned All-America honors in the 200 medley relay as a junior. A three-time state qualifier, Landt holds school records in the 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay and 100 breast and is an Academic All-State selection. She also competes in club swimming for Coach William Amos of Castle Rock Swimming.
“We have had a lot of success with ROCK swimmers, and we think Brook is going to explode in college,” Samland said. “She can swim a lot of events, so figuring out what she’s going to excel in will be a priority during her freshman year. We like that she has a solid sprint freestyle.”
RACHEL MORROW
Katy, Texas (Cinco Ranch)
Morrow is a four-year letterwinner for Coach Christie Patterson at Cinco Ranch High School. She is a three-time regional finalist in multiple events and a state qualifier in the 200 free and 100 fly. Morrow helped the Cougars to three consecutive top-10 finishes at the state meet, as well as three consecutive district and regional titles. She also competes in club swimming for Coach Andrew Korda at Katy Aquatics.
“Rachel will be a huge asset to our team, as she will come in as one of the top athletes in our program, Samland said. “Rachel is going to impact our team immediately, and we look forward to watching her success in the pool.”
CAMRYN SOMERS
Creston, Iowa (Creston)
Somers has been a three-sport athlete in swimming, basketball and golf over her career at Creston High School, where she swims for Coach Shelley Twigg. She has qualified for the state meet in four events during her Panther career, nabbing All-American honors as junior for her performance on Creston’s 200 medley relay state championship team. As a senior, Somers finished third in the 400 free relay at the state meet.
“Getting Camryn established in Omaha and being surrounded by her teammates will have a huge impact on her success,” Samland said. “She has a chance to step up and fight for spots on our relays as a freshman.”
