Masse Lowers Canadian 50 Back Mark Again In 26.15

After breaking it this morning, Kylie Masse reset her Canadian Record in the SCM 50 backstroke once again at day 1 finals of the 2018 U SPORTS Championships.

Masse clocked a time of 26.15, lowering her prelim record of 26.24 by nine one-hundredths of a second. In the morning, she knocked off her previous record of 26.34 done at the 2016 Short Course World Championships in Windsor. Over the course of the day she’s improved from 23rd to tied for 15th all-time in the event.

Danielle Hanus of the University of Victoria improved her morning swim by a tenth to win silver in 26.85, and Masse’s Toronto teammate Rachel Rode snagged bronze in 27.16.

Masse will contest the 100 fly later in the session, where she’s the top seed, as well as on Toronto’s 400 free relay.
