BROOKLYN, N.Y. – In the last home meet of the season, the LIU women’s swimming team beat Merrimack, 89-68. Prior to the meet, the Sharks celebrated three graduating seniors: Macie MaddenJacqueline Grabowski and Lydia Amon.

SHARK BITES

  • LIU opened the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of Rea Shehua, Venna AndersenSara Rodriguez Rubio and Grabowski won with a time of 1:48.81, nearly eight seconds faster than the rest of the field.
  • The Sharks also went 1-2-3 in the 200 free. Reyna Iwamoto won the event in 2:00.75, ahead of Madden (2:05.34) and Amaya Henry (2:06.12).
  • Grabowski won the 100 back in 58.87, and had the fastest time in the 100 IM, 1:01.08, setting a new school record in the process.
  • Ana Sali won the 100 breast in 1:11.25, while freshman Annalise Stingle won the 200 fly in 2:11.74.
  • Allison Naylor won the 50 free in 25.67, and also swam the fastest time of the day in the 500 free, in 5:26.88.
  • Ella Johnson won the 100 free in 54.08, while Aidan Condit won the 200 back in 2:11.24.
  • Rodriguez Rubio beat the field of the 100 butterfly by over seven seconds, with a time of 57.39.
  • Up next, the Sharks head to the Northeast Conference championships, February 22-26 in Geneva, Ohio.

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Merrimack women’s swim team traveled to New York for a dual meet against Long Island University. The LIU Sharks came out on top, with a final score of 89-68. Jordan Clements was a top finisher for the Warriors in three individual events and one relay.
