The 2025 Polish Grand Prix kicked off from Oświęcim today with the two-day competition consisting of timed finals for both men and women.

The meet represents a qualifying opportunity for swimmers to notch World Championships-worthy times for Singapore as extra incentive to put up powerful performances.

20-year-old Olympian Ksawery Masiuk took full advantage, firing off a time of 52.90 to top the men’s 100m backstroke podium.

The outing represented the 4th-quickest time of young Masiuk’s career, one which boasts a lifetime best of 52.58 from the semi-finals of the 2022 World Championships.

Opening in 25.26 and closing in 27.64 Masiuk handily beat the field during this morning’s timed final. Aleksandr Sienkiewicz was next to the wall in 55.26 followed by Jakub Majerski who touched in 55.54.

Masiuk’s result easily cleared the 53.94 World Aquatics ‘A’ standard needed for Singapore and also checked the Pole in as the 3rd-swiftest performer in the world this season.

In the later session today, Masiuk tried the 200m back on for size and found success once again. He stopped the clock at 1:58.76 to grab the gold, producing the sole time of the field under 2:05.

The World Aquatics ‘A’ standard rests at 1:58.07 so he’ll need to keep hunting that threshold.

Finally, Masiuk raced the 100m fly where he grabbed a third gold, punching a time of 52.18.

That established a new personal best for the one-time NC State commit, overwriting his previous PB of 52.31 from May last year. That met the Summer Universiade/World University Games minimum time standard.

The only other World Championships-caliber performance on the day came on the women’s side, courtesy of Adela Piskorska‘s outing in the 50m backstroke.

Piskorska stopped the clock at a time of 28.11 to dip under the benchmark of 28.22 needed for Singapore.
