Summary: In addition to leading skill-based swim and water safety instruction to people of all ages and abilities, the Program Manager is responsible for the daily operations at a specific location. Program Managers are expected to be in the water, teaching lessons approximately 30 hours per week, with additional administrative duties being performed during unscheduled time. The Program Manager always maintains constant supervision of Swim Instructors and students to ensure safety, while promoting the potential of all students in the program. Required Qualifications:

The Preserve Piranhas Swim Team is a summer swim program for Ages 6 – 18, plus a development program for ages 3-6, and is part of the Rocky Mountain Swim League (RMSL). Roughly 100 local kids participate on the team each summer and the home pool is short course meters (outdoor) and located in Greenwood Village, CO. The team is governed by the Preserve Piranhas Swim Team Board comprised of volunteer parent representatives. We are committed to fostering a source of fun, joy, and meaning for the kids and building a sense of community in the neighborhood through competitive swimming and team building.

Job Details:
• Contribute to and advance the team mission. Provide coaching to ensure swimmer development and promote positive team dynamics. Implement and improve the existing program to attract and retain swimmers. Provide positive representation of the team locally, regionally, and nationally.
• Exhibit professionalism and comply with the RMSL Coaches Code of Conduct.
• Responsible for managing 5 – 7 assistant and junior coaches across all age groups and communicating directly with team parents.

The McBurney YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator who will assist the Aquatics Director in providing direction and leadership to the Aquatics Department and following all YMCA and Department of Health aquatics standards to maintain safety for all aquatic programs in and around the swim area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Aquatics Director with recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating all Aquatic staff.
• Assist the Aquatics Director with scheduling staff and programs.
• Assist with developing, implementing, tracking, and controlling the department budget in accordance with Branch and Association Guidelines.
• Assist with reviewing program capacity and scheduling regarding efficiency and revenue.
• Adhere to Association Aquatic Safety Standards and Guidelines.
• Know and understand the facility’s Emergency Action Plan and Emergency Evacuation Routes.
• Follow YMCA Lifeguard Rescue Ready and YMCA Swim Instructor Ready protocols.
• Enforce aquatics safety rules consistently and fairly.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff. 
• Serve as a role model, promoting and demonstrating a professional demeanor to other aquatics staff.
• Maintain certifications required for the position. Responsible for recertification before expiration.
• Attend mandatory in-service training monthly and assist the Aquatics Director in running the in-service training.
• Act as a Manager on Duty (MOD) for the branch.
• Must attain the YMCA Lifeguard certification within 90 days of hire and YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification within 120 days of hire.
• Maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness. 
• Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Associate’s degree required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience supervising Lifeguards and Swim Instructors.
  
• Must be 21 years old or older.
  
• Current YMCA Swim Lessons certification or equivalent.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications.
• Demonstrate swim strokes, lifeguard rescues, and BLS/FA/EO skills.
• Obtain the YMCA Aquatics Supervisor (YLINK) within 180 days of hire.
• Excellent hospitality skills.
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

We’re looking for someone who is excited to build and lead a swim team that emphasizes growth, teamwork, and fun. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to working with both experienced and new swimmers and have a vision for a robust swim lesson program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coach the summer swim team, focusing on skill development, sportsmanship, and team spirit.
• Oversee and empower a strong staff of assistant coaches.
• Create a welcoming, positive, supportive environment for swimmers of all skill levels.
• Organize and run regular practices, ensuring a structured and engaging training experience.
• Create competitive regular season and championship meet line-ups.
• Collaborate with country club staff and parents to communicate effectively and plan team events.
• Provide swim lessons to both team members and club members of all ages, with the potential to develop and expand a swim lesson program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience coaching or teaching swim skills to children and teens (prior swim team coaching experience preferred).
• Strong understanding of stroke techniques, swim training, and age-appropriate practice plans.
• Ability to connect with young swimmers, build confidence, and foster a positive learning environment.
• Current lifeguard and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start of the season).
• Availability for practices, meets, and special events throughout the summer season.

Working Conditions: This position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, carrying, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
