We are currently looking for a dynamic head coach to provide leadership in developing, implementing and supervising one of the premier swim clubs in the Midwest.

Responsibility highlights include:

• Manage day-to-day operation of the swim club, including budget oversight and recruitment, training and supervision of swim club staff.

Head Swim Coach Upper Valley Aquatic Center

The role of the Head Coach is to develop a regionally strong competitive swim team with 120-160 swimmers while assuring growth of the team competitively and financially. The Head Coach will support the other coaches and interact often with UVAC management staff to assure coordination of swim lane usage, communication about team events, maintenance and cleaning issues, swim meet logistics, and team successes. POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Competitive Aquatics/Head Coach will provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation to all swim team participants in a safe and positive environment. Applicants should have an understanding of the 4 strokes and have been a member of a swim team in the past. Current USA Swimming coaching certifications are preferred, as are American Swim Coaches Association certifications of any level. Coaches will need to acquire their USA Swimming Coaches certification within 90 days of joining the club, and will need to complete a background check before hiring if they do not currently hold USAS certifications. This is a part time, year round position. Hourly compensation begins at $20hr with growth to $26 upon completion of certifications.

Coaches will work primarily with our Stroke School (developmental 10 and under) Speed School (developmental 11-14) and Age Group (competitive 10 and under) groups. Hours available are Mon-Fri from 330-730pm, but will average 8-12 per week. Coaches will need to be able to be on their feet or in the water for 2-3 hours at a time, actively moving throughout practices. During the summer, coaches will also be outdoors. Camp Skylemar, is an 8-week (includes training) sports-oriented program in Maine that brings together college athletes, coaches, and teachers who hope to positively impact the next generation.  Skylemar swim coaches instruct daily group and private lessons. HEAD SWIM COACH – JOB DESCRIPTION

The Head Swim Coach of the City of Midland Aquatics, Inc. shall provide leadership for the development and implementation of both short-term objectives and long-range goals of the swim team.  The Head Coach shall be responsible for supervision of employees, swim team budget and administration of the day to day swim team operations.  The Head Swim Coach shall adhere to the Official Rules and Regulations/Staff Handbook of City of Midland Aquatics, Inc.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT:

• The Head Coach is responsible for setting the direction and the vision for the team.
• The Head Coach will administer all portions of the Competitive Swimming portion of COM.
• The Head Coach shall design, schedule and conduct work-outs and practices.
• The Head Coach will supervise all swim coaches and practices.
• The Head Coach shall coordinate all aspects involved in hosting competitions.
• The Head Coach shall schedule meetings with parents as required.
• The Head Coach is responsible for all swimmers while on the premises.

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

• The Head Coach will be responsible, subject to the approval of the Executive Director for negotiating contracts with coaches and other full-time staff to include provisions for salary, benefits, annual performance review, and contract renewal or termination.

COMMUNICATION

• The Head Coach shall properly address parent issues and complaints.

GENERAL
