Education Manager of Adult Learn-to-Swim

The Education Manager will be responsible for our USMS Adult-Learn-to-Swim (ALTS) instructor certification program and operational management of our Swimming Saves Lives Foundation. This position is full time and located in Sarasota, Fla. This position reports directly to the USMS Education Director.

Roles and Duties

Educational Services

Educate aquatics leaders on the benefits and reasons to become ALTS certified;
Coordinate the delivery of the USMS Adult-Learn-to-Swim (ALTS) instructor certification program including but not limited to, the schedule of classes, the securing of venues, the coordination of instructor schedules, the registration of students, the shipment of course materials and the processing of applications and tests for certification;
Maintain the database on usms.org of ALTS certified instructors;
Market and fulfill USMS educational products to our strategic partners, volunteers, coaches and members;
Help develop and deliver new educational opportunities for volunteers, coaches and members;
Coordinate Education Services participation at conventions, events and clinics;
Develop new and expand existing partnerships with organizations promoting safe water activities.

ALTS Services

Educate aquatic leaders on the value of having a certified ALTS instructor on staff or at their facility;
Schedule and manage the ALTS certification class schedule;
Identify and provide for the training of instructors who will teach the ALTS certification program;
Manage the contractor agreements and compensation of instructors teaching the ALTS certification;
Provide email and phone support to certified ALTS certified instructors;
Manage the certified ALTS instructor locator program on the USMS.org website;
Manage the certified ALTS instructor annual renewal process;
Update the ALTS curriculum as new and innovative teaching methods become available.

Swimming Saves Lives Foundation (SSLF)

Manage our foundation grant process including but not limited to customer service/answering SSLF questions, soliciting grants, tracking grant requests, communicating with grant applicants, ensuring agreements are completed, and compiling insurance certificates;
Collect, write and provide reports from grant partners;
Receive orders and coordinate, fulfill and ship SSLF support materials and collateral to grant partners;
Update SSLF information to our website;
Manage our donor thank you program including electronic and mailed tax receipt letters;
Develop and distribute SSLF donor solicitation information.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized age group coach. We are looking for some who is dedicated to developing a quality age group swimmers through our establish curriculum focused on establishing good fundamentals strokes. This coach will be working directly with our Head Age Group Coach to establish technically efficient swimmers.


1. Conduct – 5-6 workouts per week for approximately 18-22 hours a week. Attends 1-2 swim meets a month.
2. Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices in accordance with the LAC curriculum.
3. Prepare, approve and submit swimmers’ meet entries.
4. Recommend practice level placement and changes for all swimmers in currently in practice groups and in one group below current training group.
5. Assist other coaches/instructors as needed within LAC, and communicate regularly with counterpart group coaches at each site.
6. Creates smaller workout groups within the larger group for the purpose of providing more challenging workouts to all swimmers in the group

YSSC is one of the top YMCA swim programs in the nation, winning the 2014 SCY YMCA National meet, placing 2nd in the girls at this summer’s Junior Nationals and regularly finishes in the top 20 of the USA Swimming Virtual Club Championships.


The position is responsible for all aspects of the swim program at the TOM including supervising 90 swimmers, two assistants, and a dedicated group of volunteers. The successful candidate would direct the Senior programs at the TOM along with the top 12 and under program as well.

The Facility

The Thomas E Hannah Family Facility opened in 2012 and is a 78,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility that has a 6 lane lap pool, 3 lane therapy/fun pool, full fitness center and access to Spartanburg Regional Rehab Services and their sports performance department. The TOM also has access to The Middle Tyger YMC A, which has 20 SCY lanes and 10 LCM training lanes.


We are looking for an enthusiastic hard working coach with strong organizational skills, hytek proficiency and strong people skills. Must have all required safety certifications and pass USA Swimming background test. There are required office hours and recruiting from the local summer league is important to our success.

The Head Masters Swim Coach will be a liaison between the Kingsport Aquatic Center staff and the swimmers. CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification is required.

Texas Terrapins Swim Team is a coach directed, parent supported, that is seeking an enthusiastic and organized head age group coach with the experience and expertise to direct and lead our age group team that consists of 11 & Under swimmers to the next level. TTST is located in Cypress Texas and operates out of 2 pools – 1 indoor 8 lane plus 5 lane facility for the age group team, and 1 outdoor 6 lane pool for the senior level swimmers, and a 50 meter 8 lane pool during long course season.

TTST is celebrating its 10th season in existence and has made great strides not only in growth and performance at all levels, but most importantly, developing high character in young swimmers.


Include, but are not limited to, Practices Monday – Fridays 5:00-7:30 pm, and some Sat. mornings, meet entries, coaches meetings, performance tracking, communicating with parents, and conducting parent meetings.

Will work in conjunction with head coach and other staff to develop progressive season plans for character building, goal setting, and both physical and mental training techniques.

In addition to coaching on deck, administrative duties will be assigned per the Head Coach. Head Age Group coach will attend swim meets – usually 1-2 per month. Assist with home school program. Coach is expected to help grow the program through advertising, and recruitment. This coach will stay current on the most effective methods of teaching age group swimmers.


The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of swimmer improvement, positive interactions with swimmers, parents, and coworkers, and the ability to attracting and retaining swimmers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Team Unify, Meet Manager, and general office skills are also required. Have at least 2 years previous competitive coaching experience. Have a strong work ethic and ability to solve problems while working independently. Angelfish Therapy offers private and semi-private 45-minute Aquatic Therapy sessions for children with a wide variety of special needs. Our licensed PT’s and OT’s work to improve each child’s motor skills, core strength, endurance, body awareness, motor planning, coordination and self-regulation. We are out of network providers.

Swim Whisperers Swim Lessons

The Swim Whisperers Swim School provides private swim lessons for children with Autism, Physical Difficulties and sensory challenges. Specially trained Swim Whisperers instructors incorporate strategies to help children learn to swim faster and with less discomfort than traditional methods. These instructors use proven techniques to overcome the 14 most commonly seen roadblocks in teaching these children how to swim. Instructors spend time within each lesson addressing each child’s specific sensory obstacles with proven movement strategies.

  • Experience working on various stages and facets of product development and product management
  • Strong understanding of the sport of swimming
  • Android, iOS and/or wearable product development experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a technology related field
  • Personal or professional experience with wearable devices and associated wearable device platforms
  • Java, C, or Swift programming and graphic design capabilities are a plus

Lead Age Group Coach

Eagle Swimming Association (ESA) in Atascocita, TX (Northeast Houston, Gulf Swimming LSC) is looking for an Age Group coach that will work multiple age levels, but primarily with a focus at the 10 and under level with a main objective on improved technique and allowing swimmers to build capacity for training while preparing these athletes for our junior program.


• Lead White or Blue Group Coach Group Daily: Monday-Friday (possibly Saturdays)
• Responsible for writing practices and working with other coaches on deck to achieve team/group goals.
• Responsible for writing a monthly report on the prior month’s success, needs for improvement, and goals for the next month
• Coach either the Red/ White/Blue Group a minimum of 4 x per week: Monday-Friday in addition to your lead coach responsibilities (4:00-7:45 time frame with negotiable hours)
• Responsible for helping maintain a safe atmosphere and providing positive and constructive feedback to our swimmers.
• Attend meets at which your group swimmers attend and as needed for other meets including all meets in which ESA hosts.
• Develop and maintain a season plan for White or Blue group with approval from the Head Coach that shows increased knowledge of the progression of our age group program and develops innovative techniques that show success and improvement. (This includes yardage and technique goals as well as how the group is being differentiated).
• Help manage our blue group travel trip(s) in correlation with the Age Group Head Coach.
• Provide input in practice and meet scheduling
• Provide input on meet entries
• Vacation upon request (two weeks in August and one in March built in as well as one during our Thanksgiving or Holiday Break).


• High School diploma or equivalent (Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
• A strong understanding of proper stroke mechanics (ASCA certified coach preferred)
• Ability to meet all USA and Gulf Swimming certification and coaching requirements (CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Background Check, Athlete Protection Training, etc.)
• Passion and excitement for the sport of swimming and teaching athletes.


Compensation is competitive and is aligned with experience and availability to work.
