Position Summary: 

The Head Swim Team Coach position will play a crucial role in supporting the overall success and development of our swimmers (ages 8 – 18yrs). This position involves management of all Swim Team coaches to design and implement effective training programs, providing individualized feedback, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring the safety and well-being of our athletes during practices and competitions. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and skill development of each swimmer, promote a love for the sport, and actively participate in creating a supportive and encouraging team environment. This full-time salaried role requires a passion for competitive swimming, previous coaching experience, relevant certifications, and a commitment to the holistic development of athletes. For the Swim Team: Workouts are Monday – Friday at 4:00 pm and go until 5:30 – 6:30 pm (end times vary with training group). We have morning workouts for the Senior Group twice per week. Saturday workouts are 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.

 

Essential Functions of the Job (including, but not limited to the following):

  • Coach Swim Team workouts as appropriate. Attending and coaching competitions.
  • Supervise and oversee Jr Swim Team staff and operations including scheduling, administrative duties, billing, training/mentorship, staff recruitment/hiring, and other administrative duties assigned.
  • Oversee all aspects of the junior swim programs with a focus on developing all levels of athletes. Organize and direct seasonal clinics and summer camps.
  • Maintain up-to-date member communication boards, website/Olympian Magazine information, Aquatics displays.
  • Oversee purchase and maintenance of aquatics equipment for the Swim Team.
  • Assist the aquatics department in the planning, organizing, and running the annual Trans Tahoe Relay, 1500 Meter Meet, OC Distance Challenge Meet, Intersquad Meets, and other aquatics events.
  • Additional duties as assigned and/or requested of you by the Aquatics Director and/or Club Management.

 

Estimated Weekly Job Responsibilities:

  • Coach an average of 25 hours per week of swim practices
  • Travel 1 – 2 weekends per month to outside competitions.
  • Manage and lead assistant coaches
  • Plan weekly practices focusing on the execution of the season training plans of the jr swimming programs
  • Administration of work delegation, strategic planning, monitoring of upcoming events, accounting for income and expenditures, website and communication updates
  • Weekly departmental and staff meetings

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coach beginner to advanced level swimmers
  • Teach proper stroke technique
  • Motivate swimmers in a fun and energetic manner
  • Instill a love for the sport

 

Qualification:

  • 3+ years of Head Coaching experience
  • CPR/AED, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification
  • USA Swimming Coach member
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office
  • Hy-Tek Meet Manager a plus
