ABOUT BGCNW: 

Operating in its 85th year, the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester (hereinafter referred to as BGCNW), located at 351 Main St. in Mt. Kisco, NY, provides a host of high-quality, developmentally appropriate programs for a diverse membership of area children ages 6 months to 18 years. The mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, caring citizens. Our key differentiator is civic advocacy and leadership found in all programming with concentration in the following five (5) core areas: Character and Leadership; Education and Career; Health and Life Skills; Arts and Social Recreation; Sports Fitness and Wellness.

BGCNW Marlins Swim Team, which enrolls approximately 250-275 athletes annually, in the past 30 years over 500 team alumni are college graduates from the world’s most prestigious institutions including the NESCAC and Ivy League. An ethnically diverse program, the club is routinely ranked top 100 out of 3000+ in USA Swimming VCC rankings and is a USA Swimming Club Excellence awarded Bronze level club for the years 2021-2022 and 2023-2024.  The team has won 24 consecutive Boys & Girls Club of America National Championship team titles.

The employee must remain physically fit enough to keep children safe in an emergency.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to perform certain duties. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office settings to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.

All employees working directly with children at all Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester are required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.

Job Description

As the Head Coach, you will oversee the organizational structure, day-to-day operations, financial aspects, and event management of our swim team. You will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with USA Swimming regulations, efficient online registration processes, and seamless coordination of team events and meets.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary coach for the Senior program(s)
  • Oversee and support program implementation by staff including in-water and dryland training

Organizational Structure & Planning:

  • Ensure compliance with USA Swimming regulations including athlete registration, staff certifications, SafeSport, and club recognition.
  • Manage online registration through TeamUnify, including communication of policies, tuition collection, and integration of new members into team systems.
  • Develop and/or maintain the club handbook outlining team policies and procedures.
  • Develop and/or review annually program team infrastructure including group structures and training plans

Misc. Day to Day Operations:

  • Update and maintain the team website with current information on schedules, meet details, and resources.
  • Communicate regularly with team members via email and individual meetings.
  • Coordinate equipment and apparel orders w. the team Apparel Coordinator

Billing & Team Financials:

  • Manage billing processes and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and support fundraising initiatives for team sustainability.
  • Direct and oversee the team Financial Administrative Assistant

Staff Management:

  • Lead the hiring process for coaching and administrative staff as needed, including posting job openings, conducting interviews, and facilitating onboarding and training to ensure alignment with team goals and values.
  • Administer staff agreements and oversee training responsibilities.
  • Coordinate staffing for training sessions and meets and handle basic HR functions as needed.

BGCNW Responsibilities:

  • Organize and participate in BGCNW events, trainings, and staff meetings.

LSC Advocacy & Governance:

  • Represent the team at bi-annual House of Delegate meetings and optionally serve on the LSC Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in club swimming as a Head Coach, Head Age Group Coach, or Senior Assistant
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with USA Swimming regulations and TeamUnify platform is advantageous.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for meets and events.
  • ASCA Level 4 certification or higher (preferred)
