This position will serve as full-time Assistant Swim and Triathlon Coach for NCAA Division III member of the CCIW. The individual hired will be responsible for assisting the Director of Swimming and Triathlon in all phases of the Division III swimming and triathlon program. Must understand and uphold college, conference and NCAA rules and regulations with an emphasis on recruiting highly qualified prospective student-athletes. Additional responsibilities include assisting with comprehensive training program, management and staffing for the Natatorium, as well as assisting with the additional swim and triathlon team needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Recruiting academically qualified athletes who will be successful at Millikin University/
- Working with Director of Swimming and Triathlon to develop comprehensive training program, water and dryland, for swimmers from novice to advanced levels.
- Assisting with planning and implementing home meets including set up and staffing.
- Coordinating a creating social media content and communication plan.
- Position includes travel with and for the team – some travel may include driving University vehicles.
- Support the academic efforts and success of all athletes including study hours and connecting athletes to tutoring or other support services.
- Assist with planning and implementing fundraising and team building efforts to support operations of the program.
- Aquatics facilities duties may include reporting maintenance, scheduling special events, and scheduling/managing student lifeguards.
- Commit to fostering a positive and engaging culture among swim and triathlon team members.
- Additional job-related duties as required by the supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines. Must have a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Past competitive swim and/or coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, highly desired.
- Strong communication and evidence of administrative/task completion skills expected.
- Valid driver’s license required as travel is necessary for the position.
- Red Cross certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid is required.
