Jamie Fabos Olsen, USA Swimming Director of Marketing and Brand Development, will be leaving the organization she has loved and served for over seven years. January 21st Fabos Olsen will join Arena North American as their Manager of Marketing, Communications and Events.
“After seven fabulous years with USA Swimming, I am moving on, and am happy to report that I will remain in the swimming community,” Fabos Olsen explained. “I will begin a new opportunity as Manager of Marketing Communications and Events with Arena North America on Monday, January 21. I look forward to continuing to work with you all in my new role.”
With 14+ years of experience in the sports industry, Fabos Olsen managed media relations for the New York Islanders, USA Hockey, and she supervised the mixed zone during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. In 2006 she found her home at USA Swimming, helming communications and brand managment.
Fabos Olsen was and is well-liked by all at the national governing body, including Team USA’s elite swimmers. If you’ve ever wondered why our best and brightest athletes are so relaxed on camera and in press conferences, it’s because Fabos Olsen has always been there, making sure everything runs smoothly (and that the athletes are given the space and respect they deserve). You’ve probably gotten a glimpse of her on camera at national and international compeitions. Her responsilibities at USA Swimming grew over time with her success. Fabos Olsen served as the organization’s primary media contact and netted countless feature stories and profiles for the sport of swimming we’ve seen and loved on NBC’s TODAY Show, NBC Nightly News, Good Morning America, and in print outlets such as The New York Times, L.A. Times, Washington Post, USA Today and more.
Fabos Olsen will be missed, but, thankfully, she is not gone. Arena USA’s new partnership with USA Swimming will keep her close to the swimming family. We caught up with Matt Farell, USA Swimming CMO, who worked closely with her for many years. Matt said:
“Jamie has been the consummate professional from the day she walked in the door. She has been a leader in many of our promotional and PR programs and I am personally grateful of the time she spent at USA Swimming. While she leaves USA Swimming Friday, we know she will be close and continue to provide great value to the swimming community.”
Vice President/General Manager of Arena North America, Tim McCool, the man in charge, has been very visible on deck since 2012. McCool’s been building the Arena USA team diligently, and he had this to say about Fabos Olsen:
“We’re thrilled and honored to welcome Jamie to the Arena USA management team. In addition to her wealth of experience in brand development, communications, and event management, having actually served on the organizing committee for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Jamie also brings an invaluable knowledge and understanding of competitive swim through her extensive past with USA Swimming. Jamie’s move to the Arena team further cements the brand’s foothold in the United States competitive swim market and exemplifies Arena’s commitment to grow the sport of swimming through leadership, vision, and strategic partnership.”
