The Iona University Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams each picked up their fifth wins of the season, with a pair of convincing dual meet efforts.
The Iona women raised their mark to 5 wins and 3 losses, with a 162-109 win that included 8 first place efforts in the 14 individual events. The Iona Men moved to 5 wins and 2 losses on the season, claiming 11 of the top spots in the 14 individual races to cruise to a 180-103 win.
The Iona women saw double wins from freshmen Raegan O’Brien who took both the 50 and 100-Backstroke with respective times of 28.26 and 59.60; Junior Elisa Vaher in the 100 and 200-Freestyles at 55.34 and 2:00.51, respectively; and, diver Emma Todd on the 1-M and 3-M Springboard for the second straight meet.
Co-Captain Ashley Benkert win the 200-yard Butterfly (2:11.00); Kate Kennedy touched first in the 500-Freestyle (5:23.21); Julia Moser was first in the 50-Breast (30.63); and Junior Morgan Yuengling in the50-Freestyle at 25.62.
The Iona men had double winners in Junior Dylan Riccio in the 1-M and 3-M Springboards; Sophomore Nick Patino won both the 100-Freestyle and 100-Breast with respective times of 48.16 and 59.05.
Graduate student Michael Faughnan won the 100-Back at 49.83; Senior classmates Matthew Loftus took the 50-Breast at 26.03 as co-Captain Brian Baldwin in the 50-Back at 25.25; Sophomores Elijah Decasseres in the 100-IM at 54.64; Kieran Egan won the 200-Free at 1:43.32; and, Harry Platt touched first in the 50-Free at 21.97.
The teams return to action on Dec. 6-7-8 for ECAC Mid-Winter Invitational at the Nassau County Aquatic Complex in East Meadow, NY.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.- Saint Peter’s University Swimming & Diving lost to Iona University in both men’s and women’s competitions on Saturday afternoon at the Hynes Center Pool.
On the men’s side, the Peacocks suffered a 180-103 loss to the Gaels. The women’s team lost to Iona, 162-94.
Juan Nunez captured the first-place finish in the Men’s 500-Yard Freestyle heat. Nunez’s time was 4:51.42. The women’s team dominated the 500-yard butterfly race with top three finishes in that heat for Sophie Doran, Makayla Noe, and Niela Dawlett. In the Men’s 400-Yard Freestyle Relay heat, Saint Peter’s took home the top two finishes. The first-place relay team included Austin Arnold, Aleksa Vujosevic, Victor Fuentes, and Alexey Tselichtchev. This team recorded a finals time of 3:17.48. The second-place team featured Saint Peter’s Tristan Raso, Jerrion Netwon, Paxton Gibson, and Joseph Schoenhals.
Saint Peter’s returns to the Imperatore Swimming & Diving Center on Saturday, Nov. 23 against Sacred Heart University and Merrimack College in a tri-meet.
