HOUSTON – The University of Houston will send Ashley Grijalva and Delia Weber to the prestigious AT&T Winter National Championships in Federal Way, Wash., from Dec. 3-5. The pair will represent the Cougars in a total of three events beginning Friday morning at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
Grijalva and Weber are coming off a history making weekend at the Phill Hansel Invitational. Grijalva was honored as the American Athletic Female Swimmer of the Week after breaking two school records, in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke, as well as capturing the individual championship in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Weber broke two school records as well, in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 1,650-yard freestyle.
Sophomore Grijalva will be the first in the water Friday morning in event 13, the 100-meter breaststroke.
Saturday morning, Weber will be first on the blocks in the 800-meter freestyle, followed by Grijalva in the 200-meter breaststroke to conclude the competition for the Cougars.
Preliminary sessions will begin 11 a.m. CT each day, followed by finals at 8 p.m. CT. All events will be long course (LC) meters.
The competition will be televised on NBC Universal and live scoring can be found at AT&T Winter National Results.

The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team will head to San Antonio, Texas, for the University of the Incarnate Word Christmas Invitational Dec. 18-20. While the team is at UIW, Taylor Olanski will travel to Saskatoon, Sask., Canada for the Diving Plongeon Winter Senior National Championships, Dec. 18-20.
COUGARS TO HOST AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Houston will host the American Athletic Conference Championships for the first time as the best swimmers and divers in the league visit the CRWC from Feb. 17-20, 2016. Following the conference meet, the Cougars will look to close the season at the NCAA Championships, to be held March 17-19, 2016 in Atlanta.
