Highlighting the Differences Between Leverenz and DiRado Underwater

Watch a Vine video of Maya DiRado and Caitlin Leverenz swimming underwater side-by-side in prelims of the women’s 400 IM. Notice the difference between two of the four best Americans in the race in the last two years. This shows a distinct difference between the two swimmers’ backgrounds: Leverenz is primarily a breaststroker (outside of the IM’s), which doesn’t require a ton of underwater development. DiRado, on the other hand, with background in the 200 fly and 200 back events, has a lot more underwater work on her resume.

It’s just because Leverenz’s Backstroke / underwaters are awful
