MILWAUKEE, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) —The Green Bay swimming a diving team took on Milwaukee this afternoon at the Klotsche Natatorium. The women’s team defeated the Panthers by the final score of 172-127, while the men’s side fell 131.5-168.5.
Green Bay started off the day in the victory column in the women’s 200 medley relay. The team of Momats, Boll, Stuart and Stephenson claimed the win with a time of 1:46.80, nearly three seconds faster than the Panthers who touched second.
Two events later, Kate Vanderhoef and Logan Johnsen took first and second in the 1000 yard free. Vanderhoef finished with a time of 10:40.72, while Johnsen second place time was 10:51.67.
Anna Liu took home three individually wins on the day for the Phoenix, touching first in the 200 free, 100 free and 100 fly.
Max Boehnlein walked away from the meet with two individually victories as well for Green Bay. Boehlein won the 200 free with the time of 1:42.75 and the 500 free with a time of 4:45.58.
“Another great day in the pool and on the boards. It’s always fun to compete against your in-state rival,” stated interim head coach Eddie Gillie. “We still have some work to do to get to where we want to be and I’m excited for the next few weeks ahead before Horizon League Championships.”

The Phoenix diving squad will participate in the UIC Diving Invitational next Saturday on February 1. The swimming and diving team will compete next at the Horizon League Championships in Rochester, Michigan from Wednesday February 19 to Saturday February 22.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee men’s swimming and diving team claim a victory over in-state rival Green Bay on Senior Day at the Klotsche Natatorium on Saturday, Jan. 25.
The nine seniors helped the Panthers outscore the Phoenix, 168.5-131.5, in the final home meet for the seniors and for the season.
The 200 medley team of Ben Huynh and seniors Tim Greci, Patrick Kelley, and Bailey Bodart kicked things off with an exciting win (1:33.69), out-touching Green Bay by one-tenth of a second.
Senior Patrick Kelley swam as much butterfly as one could have swam today while also claiming two individual event wins. The senior led the pool in the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.37 and the 100 fly with a time of 50.48. Teammate Jacob Weber was next to touch the wall in the 100 fly (51.55).
In a tight race, Tyler Wrasman finished first in the 100 back with a time of 52.06 while Ben Huynh touched the wall next for second (52.47).
Mason Schoof (1:55.39), Tyler Wrasman (1:55.66) and Ben Huynh (1:55.80) showed up big as they then swept the top three spots in the 200 back.
From the boards, Jared Kleczka won both the one-meter and three-meter events. He scored 296.25 on the one-meter while picking up a score of 311.32 on the three-meter.
The distance squad also had a big night. Jack Garcia finished in second in the 1000 free with a personal record time of 9:48.40 while senior Dane Van Allen finished third in 9:57.45.
Jack Garcia also led the Panthers to a second-place finish in the 500 free in 4:46.93.
In the 200 free, Danny Larson (1:42.87), Mason Schoof (1:43.55), and Jonathan Kollen (1:45.77) touched the wall in second, third, and fourth respectively.
Larson then led the Panthers in the 100 free for a second-place finish in 46.88 while Ryan Hakes finished just behind in 47.78.
Three of the Panthers racing in the 100 breast all finished within four-hundredths of a second from each other. Coming in at second was Brandon Niemiec (59.16) and tying for third place was senior duo Jacob Fase and Tim Greci (59.23).
Senior Jacob Fase also grabbed a top finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:12.32 for second while senior Justin Ogle finished third in 2:12.53.
The sprinters of senior Bailey Bodart (21.48), Jasper Appleton (21.57), Ryan Hakes (21.73), and John Ruan (21.81) claimed second through fifth place in the 50 free.
Andrew Grever closed out the individual events in the 400 IM with a top finish with a time of 4:17.10 for second place.
In the final event of the night, the Panthers 400 free relay dominated to a first-place finish, touching the wall one second ahead of the Phoenix. The relay team of Danny Larson, Jasper Appleton, Ryan Hakes, and senior Bailey Bodart grabbed an early lead and never let it go to finish with a time of 3:06.27.
ON DECK
The Panthers hit the road for one final match-up before heading to the big show. Milwaukee will take on UW-Stevens Point on Friday, Jan. 31, in the final dual meet of the regular season while the diving team will compete at the UIC Diving Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 1.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee women’s swimming and diving team were unable to keep up with Green Bay in an in-state rivalry dual on Senior Day on Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Klotsche Natatorium.
The Phoenix outpaced the Panthers, 172-127, in the final home meet for the seniors and for the season.
Claiming two event wins on the day was Giulia Guerra-Montes. The sophomore first led the pool in the 200 back (2:05.57) while teammates Riley Melendy (2:07.79) and Amber Secrist (2:09.39) made it a Panther sweep, placing second and third respectively.
Guerra-Montes then raced the 400 IM to a first-place finish in 4:36.41.
From the boards, McKenzie Sanchez continues to lead as she also grabbed a pair of wins on both the one-meter and three-meter events. The freshman scored a personal best of 289.50 on the one-meter and 248.85 on the three-meter to sweep the diving events.
Molly Meland would also grab an event win for the Panthers in the 100 back. The freshman touched the wall in 57.92, which was over two seconds ahead of second place. She also added a second-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 58.00.
Rounding out the event wins was Kelen McDaniels in the 50 free. She was the lone swimmer to touch the wall under 25 seconds, claimed first place with a time of 24.78.
McDaniels also finished in second place in the 100 free, touching the wall in 54.60.
The Panthers picked up a few top-three finishes.
First, Madeline Worgull led the Panthers in the 1000 free with a time of 11:01.98 to finish third while Natalie Sepic claimed third in the 500 free (5:17.74). Additionally, Bella Passamani clocked in at 1:58.09 to take third in the 200 free and Bri Zablocki also finished third in the 200 fly (2:11.01).
The 200 medley relay team of Meland, Andrea Bellart, Zablocki, and McDaniels finished second with a time of 1:49.49, out-touching third-place Green Bay by less than half a second.
Ending the night was the 400 free relay team of McDaniels, Natalie Hey, Cassandra Hutchins, and Meland who also finished second with a time of 3:38.09.
