Riley Courtney from Scottsdale, Arizona has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Texas for 2021-22. She will join Ava Collinge, Ellie Andrews, Jordan Morgan, Morgan Brophy, and Olivia McMurray in the Longhorns’ class of 2025.

Courtney is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American who swims for Chaparral High School and Scottsdale Aquatic Club. She won the 200 breast at Des Moines Futures last August, clocking a 2:36.77. Her lifetime best in the event dates from the summer of 2018 when she went 2:36.02 in time trials at Speedo Junior Nationals. Also in Des Moines, she came in 16th in the 100 breast (1:14.51), 9th in the 200 IM (2:21.55), and 5th in the 400 IM (5:02.37).
In high school swimming, Courtney wrapped up her junior year season in the fall with a 4th in the 200 IM (2:05.48) and a 7th in the 100 breast (1:05.88) at the 2019 Arizona AIA Meet of Champions. At the Division I State Championships she had finished 4th in the IM (2:06.14) and 5th in the breast (1:05.91).
Courtney competed at 2019 Winter Juniors West in the 100/200 breast and 200/400 IM. She left the meet with new PBs in the 50/100/200 free, 100 back, and 200 IM. She is a Winter U.S. Open qualifier in the 200 breast, a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 100 breast and 200 IM, and a Winter Juniors qualifier in the 400 IM. She has Futures cuts in the 50/100 free, 100 back, and 100 fly.
