For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Northeastern has picked up Blue Dolfins sprinter Cambria Semmen for fall 2022.

I am truly blessed to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at Northeastern University! I want to thank my coaches, parents, siblings, and teammates for supporting me every step of the way, and guiding me to become the person I am today. I am also very thankful for Coach Joe, who has taught me the true importance of hard work and perseverance through it all. Finally, huge thanks to Coach Roy and Coach Ryan who have given me this incredible opportunity to swim for such an amazing team and school. Go Huskies! 🐾

TOP TIMES (SCY)

  • 50 free – 23.38
  • 100 free – 51.56
  • 200 free – 1:53.03
  • 100 fly – 57.85

Semmen, a junior at Winter Park High School in Florida, competed at the 2020 Florida HS 4A State Championships in November. There, she swam to fourth in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 free, while she split 23.16 on Winter Park’s winning 200 free relay and led off their runner-up 400 free relay in a lifetime best 51.56.

She’s gone lifetime bests in her four best events (listed above) since the pandemic hit.

Northeastern just graduated Megan Clark, one of the top mid-major sprinters in the country. During her collegiate career, she qualified for three NCAA championships and left with school records in the 50 free (22.29), 100 free (48.46) and 200 free (1:47.20).

Last season, Semmen would’ve been Northeastern’s #2 50 freestyler and #4 100 freestyler. She would’ve also made the 50 free A-final at the 2020 CAA Championships and the B-final in the 100.

Northeastern continues to build a strong class for fall 2022 as they work out of last place at the CAA Championships in 2020. Semmen joins Marcela Scaramuzza, who is already faster than the school record in the 100 breast with a 1:01.41, and 23.6 sprinter Kotoko Blair in Northeastern’s class of 2026.
