Junior Emily Baeth has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Kentucky beginning in the 2019-20 school year. Also committed to the Wildcats’ class of 2023 are her future teammates Caitlin Brooks, Kaitlynn Wheeler, and Lauren Poole.

Baeth swims year-round for Central Iowa Aquatics, where she specializes in free and back. She represented Waukee High School at the 2015 and 2015 Iowa Girls High School State Swimming and Diving Championships. She placed third in the 100 back and 8th in the 200 free as a freshman, and 7th in the 200 free and 5th in the 500 free as a sophomore.
Baeth is on an impressive trajectory. Her best time coming out of the fall high school season in her sophomore year was 1:53; this short course season she finished with 1:48.20 as runner-up in the Iowa Swimming LCS Short Course Senior Championships in February. She also placed third in the 200 back, fifth in the 100 free and 100 back, and sixth in the 50 free, and earned new PBs in the 100 free and 200 free. Prior to that she had competed at Winter Juniors West in December. There, she was a B finalist in the 200 free and picked up new times in the 50 free, 100 back, and 200 back. Last summer, Baeth competed in the 50/100/200/400 free and 100/200 back at NCSA Summer Championship and came home with new PBs in the 50/200 back and 400 free.
