Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University swimming and diving team hosted a tri-meet with St. Bonaventure and Clarion on Saturday afternoon, capturing a pair of victories inside Towers Pool. The Dukes defeated the Bonnies 162.0 – 100.0 while downing the Golden Eagles 221.0 – 41.0.
Four different individuals and the 400-yard medley relay team broke pool records which highlighted the meet this afternoon. The 400-yard medley team of Haley Scholer, Sydney Severini, Julia Sobun, and Kayla Johnson captured the gold and secured the pool record with a time of 3:45.09. Scholer led off the relay by breaking the pool record in the 100-yard backstroke by touching the wall at 54.85. The previous record was held by Audrey Steen, who recorded a time of 55.42.
A trio of Dukes earned the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle, with freshman Lexi Sundgren earning the pool record with a time of 4:57.25. Sophomore Aislinn Mooney finished behind Sundgren to earn the silver (5:02.87) while senior Gabby Jenkins captured the bronze (5:04.49). Sundgren would add a second and third place finish to her resume as she took home silver in the 100-yard IM (59.29) while capturing bronze in the 100-yard freestyle (51.78).
In the 200-yard IM, Duquesne took four of the top five spots, highlighted by junior Orla Egan registering a time of 2:04.80 to take first. Severini touched the wall at 2:05.42 to finish in third while seniors Reagan Linkous (2:08.30) and Molly Brennan (2:09.19) ended fourth and fifth. Egan would capture the gold in the 200-yard free by touching the wall at 1:15.41 as Linkous finished third in the 100-yard IM (1:00.50).
Scholer continued her dominating performance by capturing the gold in the 100-yard butterfly (55.79). She would follow that up by breaking the pool record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.76) which was previously held by Ohio’s Laura Dawson (2:00.70).
Senior Abby Mele would lead a trio of Dukes in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:04.29 for the top spot. Severini would take second with a time of 1:04.32 as graduate student Madison Dickert took bronze with a time of 1:04.88. Another pool record was shattered in the 200-yard butterfly by graduate student Madeline Marks, who touched the wall at 2:01.12. The record was previously held by Steen (2:02.37).
Severini (2:20.33), Dickert (2:23.01), Egan (2:23.54) and Mele (2:23.66) took the top four spots in the 200-yard breaststroke before the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Johnson, Natalia Fryckowska, Sundgren, and Scholer finished second with a time of 1:35.05.

“It was great to get SBU back on the schedule and to welcome my Alma mater to Towers Pool,” head coach David Sheets said. “The bleachers were again packed with spectators which created a great environment for fast swimming. The ladies are starting to look a bit sharper overall even under the stress of the training the last few weeks. We will now turn our focus to the OSU Winter invite and A10’s”

PITTSBURGH, Pa.—The St. Bonaventure women’s swimming team split their double dual meet with Duquesne and Clarion on Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh. The Bonnies took down Clarion 209-52 but fell to the Dukes 162-100. The men’s team also swam in an unscored exhibition meet.
Junior Halle Myers led the way for the Bonnies, earning a win in the 50-freestyle and setting a new top-mark in Duquesne’s Towers Pool with a 23.48. She followed that up with a 55.94 in the 100-butterfly to earn second.
Myers also helped the 200-freestyle relay team to a win, tallying a time of 1:34.77 with Ellie Kraus, Amy O’Rourke, and Anna Bojana Forjan.
Bojana Forjan added to Bona’s team points with a victory in the 100-back and second-place finishes in the 200-IM and 200-backstroke.
Also recording a first-place result for St. Bonaventure was Silvana Cabrera in the 100-IM with a 58.29 mark, her best of the season in that event. She also picked up a second-place finish in the 200-butterfly (2:01.97).
In the 100-freestyle, Kraus picked up a victory while recording her fastest time of the season at 51.29.
In men’s exhibition action, Tanner Falls set two pool records in the 100-freestyle (45.85) and 200-freestyle (1:40.67). Alexander Behr tied the top-time in the 50-freestyle with a time of 21.16.
The Bonnies next time out will be at Atlantic 10 Championships February 21-23 at the Hampton Aquaplex in Hampton, Va.

PITTSBURGH — The Golden Eagle women’s swimming & diving team finished off their final dual meet competitions before the conference championships on Saturday, competing against a pair of Division I programs in Duquesne and St. Bonaventure at the Dukes’ Towers Pool.
Clarion fell to the Dukes by a score of 221-40, and to the Bonnies by a score of 209-52.
The meet started with the 400 Medley Relay, where the foursome of Zoey Beck, Hailey Fry, Hannah Greenway and Haley Miller finished fourth with a time of 4:09.43. Miller went on to a strong result in the 100 IM, placing sixth with a time of 1:04.97 that edged out Duquesne’s Madeline Marks.
Clarion found some success in the 200 Free, with Michaela Hinkson leading a trio of Golden Eagles to come out ahead of the Dukes’ Claudia Rzeznik. She touched the wall in 2:04.00, followed by Sarah Grimenstein and Allison McMurray. Similarly, Maria Wold (2:11.90), Joslyn Jurski (2:13.76) and Sydney Updegrave (2:19.86) all finished ahead of Regan Holstein in the 200 back.
Jordan Kutchak opened the individual events with a sixth-place finish in the 500 Free, finishing in a time of 5:44.34, and she later went on to a ninth-place finish in the 50 Free with a 25.64. Emma Dorsey took ninth in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:01.80 and later placed ninth in the 200 Breast, while Updegrave placed sixth in the 100 Breast with a mark of 1:16.14.
