Women’s Recap
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Drexel women’s swimming and diving team returned to the Daskalakis Athletic Center for the first time since Feb. 14, 2019. The Dragons defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, 195-105.
Drexel started off the meet by finishing first in the 400 medley relay. The relay team of Aldercy Bui, Megan Sicinski, Chelsea Gravereaux and Paige Powell teamed up and finished the race in 3:51.22
Maddie Riley finished first in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:33.57, as she finished about 14 seconds ahead of second place.
Bui and Fede Nocera placed first and second respectively in the 50 back. Bui touched the wall in 26.73, and Nocera finished the race in 27.10. The duo then flip-flopped in the 100 back, as Nocera took first and Bui finished second. They had times of 56.41 and 56.97, respectively.
Sicinski showed her dominance in the breaststroke with a first-place finish in the 50 and 100 breast events. The senior finished the 50 breast in 30.15 and touched the wall in 1:05.54 in the 100 breast.
Lera Nasedkina got on the board with a first-place finish in the 50 free, touching the wall in 23.03. The time was good enough to set a new pool record, topping the previous time of 23.26, set by Megan Clark of Northeastern. Nasedkina also finished second in the 100 free with a time of 52.10, along with a second-place finish in the 100 breast.
The divers put on a dominant performance for Drexel, as they took the top four spots in the 1-meter dive. Becca Demaree led the charge, finishing first, followed by Hannah Jordan, Katie Caputo and Cora Hochstetler. In the 3-meter dive, Caputo finished first, with Demaree and Jordan in second and third, respectively.
In the 500 free, Riley and Ellie Webb took the top two spots, with Riley finishing first. Riley finished with a time of 5:08.15 and Webb a time of 5:16.83. Then, it was Victoria Palochik and Elizabeth McDevitt who finished one-two. Palochik topped the board in the 50 fly with a time of 26.38, followed by McDevitt with a 26.97.
The Dragons wrapped up the meet by finishing first in the 200 free relay. The relay team of Gravereaux, Ryann Styer, Palochik, and Nasedkina finished with a time of 1:35.88. With that time, the team set a new pool record, besting the previous time of 1:36.94 set by a Drexel team in 1990.
The Dragons return to the DAC on Jan. 8 to host conference rivals, Delaware. The meet also will be Drexel’s alumni meet. Action is set to kickoff at 10:30 a.m.

Men’s Recap
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Drexel swimming and diving team returned to the Daskalakis Athletic Center to compete, on Saturday, for the first time in 1,024 days. The Dragons hosted Lehigh in a dual meet that ended in Drexel’s favor, 196-102.
In the 400 medley relay, Alessio Gianni, Kacper Karnik, Paris Raptis and John Scully teamed up and finished in 3:19.89 to finish first and set a pool record. Immediately after, Will Soleo finished first in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:55.16.
Karnik finished first in the 50 and 100 breast with times of 25.55 and 56.27, respectively. Karnik finished with four first-place finishes on the day. Scully joined Karnik, also having four first-place finishes. Scully touched the wall first in the 50 free and 100 free, swimming a 20.87 in the 50 free and 46.34 in the 100 free. Karnik and Scully, along with Alex Flynn and Alasdair Bell finished first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.18.
Gianni finished first in the 100 fly with a time of 51.36. Raptis touched the wall first in the 50 fly with a time of 22.23. Raptis also finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.03.
In the 500 free, Xabier Carneiro touched the wall in 4:45.80 to place first in the event.
Jack Patton scored a 287.18 in the 3-meter dive to finish in first place on the diving board.

Women’s Recap
PHILADELPHIA – The Lehigh women’s swimming and diving team picked up four first place finishes, but were defeated 195-105 by Drexel Saturday morning at Daskalakis Athletic Center Pool. The Mountain Hawks (4-1) drop their first meet of the season and see a four-meet win streak snapped by the Dragons (2-1) heading into nearly a month off for finals and winter break.
Fifth year senior Ann Foley and junior Sarah Hardy both swam to two first place finishes in their respective events.
Foley’s first win came in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:55.74, nearly three seconds faster than Drexel’s second place finisher. She also swam to a time of 51.59 in the 100-yard freestyle, good for a second first place finish of the morning for the Mountain Hawks. In addition to her two wins, Foley also tallied a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.80.
Hardy won the 100-yard butterfly with her victorious time of 56.82, while also coming out on top in the 200-yard individual medley in which Liz Olszewski came in third place with a mark of 2:11.94.
In the relays, the women picked up a second-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay as the tandem of Foley, Noel Fresa, Grace Rogowski and Maddie Dorish swam a 1:38.97.
All-in-all, it was a tough day for the Lehigh divers, as Emma Camp finished fifth in the one-meter with a score of 225.83. Sarah Gill finished sixth (210.98). In the three-meters, Gill came in fourth at 232.50 and Camp finished sixth (226.20).
Lehigh returns to action at Jacobs Pool on Jan. 22 vs. Bucknell.

Men’s Recap
PHILADELPHIA – Senior Owen Thomas registered two of his team’s four first place finishes on the day, but the Lehigh men’s swimming and diving team fell to Drexel, 196-102 Saturday morning at Daskalakis Athletic Center Pool.
The Mountain Hawks (2-3) were led by Thomas’ two victories, while Connor Goodyear and senior diver Addison Cochran each picked up wins in their respective events.
Goodyear earned Lehigh’s first win of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.50.
Thomas followed up Goodyear’s win with a win of his own on the 50-yard backstroke with a mark of 23.99. Thomas also claimed a victory in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.13.
On the boards, Cochran’s win came in the one-meter diving event with a score of 282.30, 11 points ahead of Drexel’s Peter Soares for second place. Cochran came in second in the three-meter dive, scoring a 262.58.
The Mountain Hawks got second place finishes out of Connor Sept in the 50-yard breaststroke (26.84), the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.40 for Glenn Lasco and the 100-yard freestyle as Alex Patti (46.95) and Lasco (47.14) finished in second and third place, respectively.
The team of Patti, Aiden McCurley, Tim Norris and Lasco swam to a second-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.03.
Lehigh takes almost a month off from action before returning to Jacobs Pool on Jan. 22 vs. Bucknell at 1 p.m.
