PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women’s swimming and diving team opened up its season with a win against the La Salle Explorers on Friday afternoon, 152-146.
In the 200 relay, Federica Nocera, Megan Sicinski, Victoria Palochik, and Lera Nasedkina took first place. Nocera also placed first in the 100 back, 200 back, and 400 free relay. Nocera, along with Delaney Leonard, Olivia Scherbin and Chelsea Gravereaux set a pool record in the 400 free relay after finishing in 3:29.15.
On the diving board, Cora Hochstetler finished in third place for 1-meter diving with a final score of 205.95. Hochstetler followed with a fourth-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a final score of 204.98.
Megan Ehrnfeldt finished first in the 100 and 200 fly. Gravereaux also had an excellent start to the year with four first-place finishes. The senior finished first in the 100 and 200 free, and placed second in the 100 fly. Leonard also contributed with a first-place finish in the 50 free.
The Dragons will travel to Seton Hall to swim against the Pirates on November 5. The first event is slated for noon.

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men’s swimming and diving team opened up its season with a win against the La Salle Explorers on Friday afternoon, 169-131. The Dragons finished first in 10 of 14 swimming events.
In the 200 relay, Alessio Gianni, Kacper Karnik, Jakub Kwasny and John Scully took first place. Gianni placed first in the 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM.
On the diving board, Jack Patton finished in third place for 1-meter diving with a final score of 224.18. Patton followed the 1-meter board with a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a final score of 227.63.
Sebastian Smith finished first in the 50 free and 100 fly. Kacper Karnik also had an excellent start to the year with two first-place finishes. The sophomore finished first in the 100 and 200 breast. Andrea Casini also contributed with a first-place finish in the 200 free.
The Dragons will travel to Seton Hall to swim against the Pirates on November 5. The first event is slated for noon.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Men’s and women’s swimming and diving traveled to Drexel University on Friday for the 2022 season opener. The men fell to Drexel 169-131, and the women lost 152-146.
La Salle is now 0-1 on the young season.
How the Swimmers Finished –
- Anne Moser earned the first win of the meet for La Salle in the women’s 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.81.
- In the men’s 1000-yard freestyle, George Williamson got the win posting a time of 9:39.46.
- Gabby Herbreder’s 1:05.67 was good for first place in the women’s 100-yard breaststroke.
- The men’s 200-yard butterfly had Zack Wolbert as the top finisher with a time of 1:52.48.
- Zack Miller added to the wins for La Salle by taking the top spot in the men’s 100-yard freestyle with a finish time of 46.85.
- In the women’s 200-yard breaststroke Herbreder took first with a time of 2:22.73.
- Thilda Ström won the women’s 500-yard freestyle with a 5:12.12 time.
- Williamson earned his second win of the meet for La Salle finishing first in the men’s 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 4:39.64.
- In the women’s 200-yard IM Felicia Rogell got first with a 2:09.59 time.
How the Divers Finished –
- In the women’s one-meter diving Phoebe Shaya got first place with a score of 265.65.
- Sam Henninger won in the men’s one-meter dive scoring a 300.38.
- Shaya earned the top spot in the women’s three-meter dive at 269.10.
- Henninger earned first in the men’s three-meter dive at a score of 299.18.

- Both men and women swimming and diving teams will travel to Seton Hall University on Saturday, October 29th at 12 p.m. for a matchup against the Pirates.
