Dressel, Boffa Take ACC Swimmer of the Week Awards

The ACC has named Kaitlyn Dressel from Florida State and Jonathan Boffa from NC State as their female and male Swimmers of the Week for Tuesday, January 7th.

Dressel took two big individual wins in the Seminoles’ dual meet with Florida, topping the 50 free in 22.90 and the 100 free in 50.49. Those were two crucial victories as Florida State very nearly pulled off the upset before eventually falling 153-147.

Boffa was similarly recognized for his efforts in a loss, and another near-upset, for the Wolfpack as they fell 156-142 to the Georgia Bulldogs. Boffa took wins individually in the 200 free (1:38.59), in just beating Georgia’s Matias Koski (1:38.67); and followed that with a slightly-more comfortable win in the 100 free in 44.37. He was also a part of both of North Carolina State’s winning relays at the meet, anchoring the 200 medley in a 19.6 and swimming the 2nd leg of the 400 free relay in 43.6.

Meanwhile, Florida State swept the diving honors. For the women, the mark went to Kelsey Goodman, who won the 1-meter against Florida. This is her 3rd ACC Female Diver of the Week early this season.

Tom Neubacher took the men’s award as he also won the 1-meter against Florida. He actually swept the competition in that dual, also winning the 3-meter by a significant margin.
