Arthur Markley, a senior at J.P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has verbally committed to the application process at Princeton University.
“I’m very excited to be committed to the application process at Princeton University. I have a long family legacy at Princeton and am thrilled for the future!”
Markley swims for Lancaster Aquatic Club and specializes in distance freestyle and butterfly. At 2016 Speedo Summer Juniors he scored in the 1500m free (15th), the 800m free (14th), and the 200m fly (16th). In April he won the 800, took second in the 1500, and placed in the top 8 in the 200/400 free and 100/200 fly at Richmond Sectionals.
His top SCY times are:
- 1650 free – 15:18.80
- 1000 free – 9:12.92
- 500 free – 4:28.67
- 200 free – 1:40.99
- 200 fly – 1:51.03
Markley will be an instant asset to the Tigers’ distance group, which at the 2016 Ivy League Men’s Championships consisted of the now-graduated Zach Ridout, current senior Sam Smiddy, and current sophomore Murphy McQuet. He would have scored in the B finals of the mile, 1000, and 500, and in the C finals of the 200 free and 200 fly.
