The 2025 Danish Open ended with a bang, as Robert E. Fallborg Pedersen downed a national record in the men’s 100m backstroke.
Pedersen raced his way to the top of the podium in a time of 54.26, the best outing of his career.
Splitting 26.05/28.21, Pedersen overtook his previous personal best of 55.16 he established just last month. His result also erased the former Danish national standard of 54.41 Matthias Gydesen put on the books over a dozen years ago in 2012.
Pedersen’s mark did fall short of the World Aquatics ‘A’ cut of 53.94 needed to qualify for this summer’s World Championships, however.
Making the grade for Singapore was Clara Rybak-Andersen in the women’s 200m breaststroke.
Rybak-Andersen got to the wall in a result of 2:23.67 to take the event by over 11 seconds.
She split 32.43/36.65/37.16/37.43 to get the job done and establish a new lifetime best by nearly a second. Her outing dipped under the ‘A’ cut of 2:25.91 needed for the World Championships and the Dane ranks 3rd in the world this season with tonight’s performance.
