Expectations for day 1:

This should be a really big day for the Georgia women. Among the teams we expect to be in the top four, Georgia has by far the most seeded scorers, and the most seeded points.

Expected scoring on day 1 (not including diving, though that might extend their margin):

Georgia 149
Texas A&M 96
Cal 91
USC 91

Expected “Ups” (A finalists) and “Downs” (B finalists)

Georgia 5 up/3 down
Texas A&M 2 up/3 down
USC 3 up/3 down
Cal 2 up/0 down

Other teams anticipating a big day:

Tennessee (3 up, especially in the 50 free where Caroline Simmons and Faith Johnson are both seeded to score)
Florida (2 up/1 down, looking for Elizabeth Beisel to take a top 2 spot in the 200 IM, and get the first-day-jinx off of her back)
Virginia (3 down, looking to turn 3 seeded B-finalists into some A-finalists)
