While competing at the 2023 Swim Ulster Senior Long Course Championships in Bangor, Danielle Hill lowered her own national record in the women’s 50m backstroke.
The 23-year-old Irish swimmer posted a time of 27.69 to take the open event, surpassing her own lifetime best and national standard of 27.95 produced in the summer of 2019.
Entering this competition, Hill’s season-best rested at the 28.00 she logged at the McCullagh International in February. She came within range of that with a time of 28.11 put up at the Irish Open Championships earlier this month.
With her new record of 27.69, Hill now checks in as the 8th swiftest swimmer in the world this season. The time would have placed 7th in the 50m back event at the 2022 World Championships.
