Virginia Claims Three of Four ACC Weekly Awards

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia’s Kate Douglass has been named the ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and teammate Sydney Dusel has been selected as the Diver of the Week. Pitt’s Blaise Vera has been tabbed the ACC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and Virginia’s Walker Creedon received Diver of the Week honors.

Swimming against No. 14 Auburn in both short course and long course events, Douglass won five of her six races. The freshman from Pelham, New York, won the 50 meter freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 100 yard individual medley and was part of the winning teams on the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 meter medley relay.

Dusel placed in the top two in four of the five diving events in which she competed, winning the 3-meter competition against Auburn. The senior from Naperville, Illinois, placed second on the 1-meter springboard events at the Tennessee Diving Invite and she finished second in the 3-meter competition against Auburn.

Competing against West Virginia in the Backyard Brawl rivalry, Vera won all three of his races. The junior from Clinton, Mississippi, won both the 50 free and 100 free and was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay team.

Creedon shined for Virginia at the Tennessee Diving Invite and against No. 23 Auburn. The sophomore from Cary, North Carolina, won the platform competition at the Tennessee Diving Invite and placed in the top seven in four of his five diving events.
