Costa Rican National Teamer Reidemeister Signs with Boston University

Versatile IMer and Costa Rican National Teamer, Marisa Reidemeister, of Taunton, Massachusetts, will stay in state as she has given her commitment to Boston University for the Fall of 2015.

Reidemeister’s high school, Bishop Feehan in Attleboro in Massachusetts, won an unprecedented 4 straight Massachusetts State titles. Her club team is the Bluefish Swim Club out of Attleboro, Massachusetts.

According to Reidemeister, she chose Boston University due to its strong swimming program, excellent coaching, and renowned academics. The swimmer plans to pursue a degree in Health Sciences, and believes BU is an “excellent choice”.

Reidemeister, the 12th ranked swimmer in the state of Massachusetts, was the 2014-15 Massachusetts Fall Division 2 State Champion in the 200 freestyle. She won the event in 1:54.19.

A versatile IMer, she has solid times in all the strokes from sprint to middle distance. This will make her a valuable swimmer for Boston in college duel meets, where she could be put into just about any of the events to try and score points for her team as she progresses in college.

Reidemeister could have an immediate impact for Boston University at the Patriot League Championships. She would have scored in the consolation final of the 200 I.M. this past year with her best time on day 1.

Her 400 I.M. time of 4:30.52 is close to the championship final qualifying cutoff, as 8th place this year was 4:29.07. She’s well ahead of the 4:35.12 it took to score in the B-final.

She’ll also be in a good position to go for a spot in the 200 and 400 free relays now that 2 of the swimmers from those relays have graduated. Her 52.73 in the 100 is just a few tenths off of the slowest leg for boston, which was a 52.47 off of a relay start.
