Colorado 5A State Finalist Josh Lenzmeier Commits to ‘Bama

Joshua Lenzmeier of the Rocky Mountain Rapids swim team has verbally committed to the University of Alabama.

I chose Alabama because of the amazing athletic facilities, the outstanding academics and the phenomenal coaches.

Lenzmeier is primarily a sprint breaststroker. At the 2016 Colorado 5A HS Championships, Lenzmeier posted the 4th fastest time in the 100 breast final (57.23) and swam on both of Liberty High School’s freestyle relays. In addition, he placed 31st in the 200 IM.

At last year’s SEC Championships, it took a 55.0 to make it back in the 100 breast C final, though seeing as only three total scoring 100 breaststrokers graduated, it’ll probably be even more competitive this season.

Lenzmeier will join the Crimson Tide when the breaststroke group will really be bleeding– they’re about to have their entire core breaststroke group (Pavel RomanovAnton McKee, and Szymmy Day) lose NCAA eligibility.
