WORCESTER, Mass. – Led by three individual wins by MG King, Colgate continued its momentum by setting four pool records and taking gold in 10 events to beat Holy Cross, 159.5-140.5, on Friday afternoon inside the Hart Center Arena.
Four pool records were shattered in Colgate’s first win at Holy Cross since the 2017-18 season:
- 400 Yard Medley Relay: MG King, Natalie Hofer, Audrey Collins, Lucy Art, 3:55.69
- 100 Back (Medley Relay Leadoff time): MG King, 57.62
- 200 Yard Backstroke: MG King, 2:03.15
- 100 Yard Butterfly: Audrey Collins, 57.60

“Both teams are extremely broken down and I’ve never seen us do this well on the road since I’ve been here at Colgate. The team energy was incredible. Total team efforts from both sides. I couldn’t be prouder of our team today, and as we move forward into the championship season, we’re going to be ready.”
HOW IT HAPPENED
The 400 Medley Relay team of King, Hofer, Collins, and Art set the tone with a dominant victory, besting Holy Cross’ closest quartet by nearly two full seconds.
King’s three individual triumphs led the way, followed by Collins with two. Brooke Garretson, Lucy Art and Natalie Hofer each brought home a gold along with the 400 Free Relay team of Elizabeth Rainey, Garretson, Collins, and Art.
King followed the medley gold with first place in the 100 Back, clocking in at 58.70 – more than a second faster than their nearest competitor. King dominated again in the 200 Back with a pool-record time of 2:03.15, five seconds faster than their nearest competitor. King, a sophomore, captured their third win in the 200 IM, turning in a time of 2:09.60.
Collins shattered the pool record in the 100 Fly, securing a first-place time of 57.60 to outpace her nearest competitor by three seconds. Collins, who played a part in four total victories including two relays, also took individual gold in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:10.47.
Garretson returned to her All-Patriot League form by taking the top of the podium of the 100 Yard Breaststroke, clocking in at 1:08.70 to just edge teammate Hofer (1:08.85). Hofer came away with the crown later in the meet, taking first place in the 200 Breast with a winning time of 2:31.25.
Art, another Colgate returner coming off All-Patriot League honors, found success in the 50 Free. She turned in an impressive time of 24.43, clocking in just ahead of her nearest competitor from Holy Cross (24.77) to take gold.

WORCESTER, Mass. – Jack Schurtz-Ford and Deacon Mascarinas combined for four of Colgate’s seven total triumphs in a hard-fought 154-134 loss at Holy Cross on Friday afternoon.
Schurtz-Ford and Mascarinas won a pair of individual events apiece, while Matt Freund and Zack Berner each brought home one gold along with Colgate’s first-place 400 Free quarter of Michael Granin, Jack Lira, Cooper Luedde, and Schurtz-Ford.
The leaderboard was full of Colgate Raiders with seven first-place finishes, eight second-place finishes, and eight third-place tallies in a narrow decision at the Hart Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Schurtz-Ford shined throughout the afternoon, setting the tone with a first-place finish in the 100 Back with a time of 52.80, besting his nearest competitor by nearly two full seconds. Schurtz-Ford also found success in the 50 Free, taking home gold after clocking in at 22.01.
Mascarinas continued his first-year momentum by first taking the top spot in the 100 Breast with an impressive time of 58.68 to edge Holy Cross’ second-place finisher by .2 seconds. Mascarinas claimed his second first-place finish by a full second with a time of 1:59.15 in the 200 IM.
Freund found success in the 200 Fly, edging his teammate Peyton Wray (1:56.46) with a first-place winning time of 1:56.46. Berner once again played a key role in Colgate’s success, garnering gold in the 200 Back with a first-place time of 1:59.28.
Colgate’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team continued to anchor the Raiders, led by Michael Granin, Jack Lira, Cooper Luedde, and Schurtz-Ford, who guided Colgate to a first-place finish and 11 team total points in the final event of the day with a winning time of 3:10.03.

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s swimming and diving team began 2025 with a 159.5-140.5 loss to Patriot League opponent Colgate on Friday afternoon in the Hart Center Pool.
The loss sends the Crusaders to 1-3 and 0-2 in conference action while the Raiders improve to 4-5, 2-3 with the win.
Junior Ainsley Nalen collected a pair of first place showings in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.75) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.04).
Sophomore Kat Anticev finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle finishing the race in 10:48.34 earning nine points for the Crusaders. Classmate Devin Brindle also hit the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle (52.94).
In the diving events, freshman Brenna Short earned first in the one-meter dive (260.25) while senior Ciara Scamby had the highest point total (243.53) in the three-meter dive.
Holy Cross will host Providence (2-2) in the Hart Center Pool on Saturday, Jan. 18 at noon.
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross men’s swimming and diving team started the new calendar year with a 154-134 victory versus Patriot League opponent Colgate Friday afternoon in the Hart Center Pool.
The win levels the Crusaders record at 2-2 and 1-1 in league meets while the Raiders slide to 2-7, 0-5 PL.
The 400-yard medley relay team of junior Jack Greiner, junior Zach Bubonovich, junior Alex Michael and freshman Peter Mottolese hit the wall first at 3:29.19 adding 11 points to the team total early on in the meet.
Mottolese earned his second first place showing in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.39) with senior Patrick Walsh (1:46.25) following in second. Mottolese posted another first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (47.98).
Sophomore Austin Cutcher brought home first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:09.16) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:50.52). Bubonovich finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.20) and Michael in the 100-yard butterfly (52.35).
In the diving events, sophomore Luke Parada (269.93) and freshman Griffin Casey (267.15) placed first and second in the three-meter dive. Casey (294.75) and Parada (231.38) were 1-2 on the one-meter boards.
Holy Cross will host Providence (0-4) in the Hart Center Pool on Saturday, Jan. 18 at noon.
