Coach In Malaysia Accused of Raping Olympic Diver

A national aquatics coach in Malaysia is accused of raping a teenage diver in late September.

The Sun Daily reports that the 35-year-old coach – who is originally from China – had been coaching in Malaysia for more than five years. The alleged sexual abuse took place on September 26.

The victim, a teenage diver who was an Olympian, didn’t report the incident until October 1 because she “feared for her safety,” according to the Sun Daily report. She first confided in her parents, who then helped her lodge a formal complaint with police. The coach was remanded for five days beginning on Monday, October 3 in order to investigate the allegations.
