A pair of power conference commits took home plenty of hardware following the women’s competition at the Illinois Senior Championships earlier this month.
Isabella Chow, who has signed with Northwestern, and Vera Conic, who has committed to NC State, each won four individual events.
The 18-year-old Chow, who swims for the Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club, won the 50 backstroke (25.12) and 50 butterfly (24.34) in personal best times, while she also won the 50 freestyle (22.89) and 100 free (50.10). In addition, Chow was second in the 100 fly (53.66).
Conic, who swims for Palatine Park District, won the 200 individual medley (2:01.91) and 400 IM (4:17.22) in personal best times, while also claiming titles in the 100 back (53.39) and 200 back (1:55.71).
Conic’s time in the 200 back currently ranks as the 11th-best in the event for the 17-year-old age group.
Chow’s performance helped Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club win both the combined and women’s team titles.
The men’s title was won by Palatine Park District.
In the men’s competition, Purdue signee and Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club’s Biko Hooper-Haviland was the individual standout. Hooper-Haviland won the 50 free (20.58), the 1000 free (9:13.77) and the 100 fly (47.77), all in personal best times. He also was second in the 200 fly (1:46.11).
