Charlie Hutchinson Breaks 200 Back British Age Group Record

2017 BRITISH SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS

On Sunday evening at the 2017 British Swimming Championships 14-year old Charlie Hutchison broke his own British age group record in the finals of the 200 back.

In prelims the Ellesmere College swimmer broke Luke Greenbank’s record of 2:06.44 seconds with a time of 2:04.59. Later that evening he lowered his own record, earning third place in the Junior classification with a time of 2:03.77.

Hutchison is not a newcomer to the British age group record book– he holds British Age Group records in the 200 butterfly, 200 IM, and 400 IM for the 13 year old group.

Further, the 200 back was not Hutchison’s only noteworthy swim at the 2017 British Swimming Championships. He won 400 IM title in the Junior classification by over five seconds despite the fact that he was the youngest in the field. He touched the wall at 4:26.26; this time was not only a personal best but also the second fastest 400 IM swum by a British 14 year old.
