The Fighting Irish have jumped out to an early lead in the recruiting game with verbal commitments from six members of the class of 2017, and we’re still ten days away from the end of September. Carly Quast of Wayzata, Minnesota added her name to the list today, joining Abigail German, Cailey Grunhard, Lindsay Stone, Rachel Wittmer, and Skylar Fore.
“I chose Notre Dame because of the amazing people on the staff and on the team. I felt so welcome every time I was there, and I’m really looking forward to my next four years!”
Quast is a senior at Wayzata High School, whom she led to the team title at the 2015 Minnesota Girls Class AA State Championships last November. Quast contributed points with individual wins in the 200 free (1:47.94) and 100 back (54.04), and as a member of Wayzata’s record-breaking 200 medley relay (she led off in 25.16) and second-place 400 free relay (50.41).
Quast swims year-round with Aquajets Swim Team. She competed in the 100/200m free and 100/200m back at the 2016 Speedo Junior Nationals, and achieved new times in almost all her events during the 2015-16 swim year. Her top times include:
