Brooke Lamoureux, from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, in Canada, recently signed a National Letter of Intent with the University of Akron for 2017-18.
“I chose the University of Akron because through my conversations with Coach Brian Peresie and Meg Mergl I felt that it was a place I could thrive as both an athlete and a student. I had an immediate connection with the girls and they really made me feel like I was family! It’s great to hear how excited everyone is about the upcoming swim season and all that is to come. I am thrilled to be a ZIP and join such an amazing group of coaches and swimmers!”
Lamoureux swims for Island Swimming Club in Victoria, British Columbia. She specializes mostly in freestyle, butterfly and backstroke, across all distances. At the 2016 Speedo Western Canadian Open (LCM) hosted by Swim Manitoba last February, Lamoureux won a silver medal in the 200 fly and a bronze in the 1500 free. She was also 4th in the 800 free, 5th in the 400 free, and 9th in the 400 IM. At the recent ISC Bennett Cup (SCM) hosted by Island Swimming, she won the 100 fly with a new best time, and earned bronze medals in the 200 fly and 800 free. She was also an A finalist in the 100 and 200 freestyles.
